A lab pack is a collection of smaller sized containers all with contents of similar hazardous characteristics which are placed in larger containment (i.e. lab pack) for final disposal at a TSDF. In our industry this is considered consolidation.
Before consolidating any hazardous waste in containers, make sure the materials meet the requirements for hazardous waste consolidation. This means that only those waste materials with the same shipping description and characteristics are compatible and may be lab packed together. WasteXpress assists our customers in making a proper waste characterizationand determination, which helps plan how to reduce waste, package these small containers, and conserve money and resources.
WasteXpress provides various services regarding lab packs. We provide packaging materials: 5 gallon, 10 gallon, 20 gallon, 30 gallon, and 55 gallon. Our project managers can examine waste containers, inventory sheets, and material safety data sheets to ensure a proper waste characterization, waste profile, and packaging requirements which are utilized to generate a complete disposal estimate. Our highly trained field technicians will package, label, and transport each lab pack in the most cost effective manner.
If your business is a Conditionally Exempt Generator, WasteXpress has developed a program that minimizes much of the lab packing requirements and associated higher disposal costs by providing a per gallon disposal rate instead of a full lab pack rate. This results in substantial savings for the customer. Alternatively, if your business is a Medium or Large Quantity Generator, then WasteXpress will assist in developing a cost-effective waste management plan to not only handle lab pack materials correctly but to also reduce disposal costs.
