Dot Packaging

According to the Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR Parts 171-180) certain rules must be followed when transporting hazardous materials and waste. These parts of the CFR specify exactly how a waste or material must be packaged in accordance to the mode of transportation (motor vehicle, rail, aircraft, and vessel). The Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) apply to each person who performs functions related to the transportation of hazardous materials or waste such as determination, filling, marking and labeling, preparing shipping papers, handling, loading, securing and segregating packages within a transport vehicle. WasteXpress provides each of the services necessary to keep your business compliant.

The HMR are enforced by Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, and United States Coast Guard. Penalties for non-compliance may result in hefty fines for businesses, ranging from $250-$500,000.
